Panjab University
Panjab University, one of India's oldest and most prestigious universities, was established in Lahore in 1882 and re-established in Chandigarh after independence. With over 202 affiliated colleges across Punjab and Chandigarh, the university has upheld a legacy of academic excellence and leadership development for more than 140 years.

About
Panjab University - Model United Nations 2025
Model United Nations is an intellectual platform which allows students to foster their skills in public speaking, research and diplomacy by taking on the roles of delegates representing different countries in the United Nations or other international bodies. It is an educational simulation where the goal is to debate, negotiate and find solutions to current global issues much like in real world diplomacy.
The MUN mirrors the structure of the United Nations where delegates get a chance to hone in on their debating skills in simulated bodies which are versions of UN general assembly, security council or specialized agencies like WHO or UNESCO. During MUN conferences, delegates prepare position papers and draft resolutions which are debated and voted upon. This process also includes formal and informal debates, which refer to moderated caucuses and unmoderated caucuses respectively, and a drafting of resolutions that outline proposed solutions to the issues discussed. Delegates collaborate to create these resolutions, which are discussed and revised during committee meetings. Finally, resolutions are submitted to a vote to see if the committee will approve them.

It is an honour to host the future aspiring leaders and diplomats from across the different colleges and university. I strongly believe that MUNs are not just about debates; they are about stepping into the shoes of world leaders, understanding the diverse perspectives, and building solutions for global challenges.
I am thrilled to announce that Panjab university is going to organise its first ever PU-MUN with the dream of creating a space where young minds could engage with pressing global issues. I extend my heartiest greetings to all participants ,my team and volunteers associated in this endeavor. I am honored and privileged in serving as the president of PU-MUN. At this position I represent all those people who share the same thought as mine of bringing the international discussion to students’ table as we the students being the future generation ,are the ones that’ll be directly affected by these decisions .
Being able to act with diplomacy in cases of adversity, disadvantage, and injustice is a skill that every person should learn and harness to make the world a better place, not just for themselves but for everyone. We believe that skill is something that is learnt with a will to know and a will to do. And hence our team has worked very hard to put together a memorable and intriguing experience for all the participants. For this I’m really thankful to all the members.
Observing senate and student council elections is an inseparable part of any student’s life here at Panjab University. This unique and inclusive governance structure has been a matter of pride for the region’s informed citizenry The Panjab University Senate election is a significant event in north-west India as this institution has stood the test of time for more than 130 years. This democratic academic governance nourishes an environment of open discussions. A step ahead in the same direction would be shining light on international issues and one way of doing it is through the very popular and efficacious practice of MUN .
Lastly I express deep desire that this culture of expression take the form of changes in the society for betterment , promote better human values , empathy and many such constructive values among all. The purpose doesn’t end with completion of this MUN, rather starts . The legacy which it will leave and minds that’ll be formed will hopefully create ripples of similar thoughts . My dream is a success when the whole society will share this locus of woke thoughts . This will take a while . Till then , I’ll keep dreaming ….
